Create:Liberate is the working space of art director and designer, Rory Campbell.
Rory is a versatile Graphic Designer and although he finds himself working in the interactive field most often he enjoys some variation where possible - sometimes in the guise of illustration, print, identity design and photography. He has been working in the creative industry since graduating from the University of Pretoria with a degree in Information Design in 1999. After a short time spent in Stockholm, Rory arrived in London in 2002 where he has lived and worked since.
Having recently worked as an Art Director to get Lord Maurice Saatchi’s latest social networking website venture (MyFaveShop) up and running, Rory is now once again looking to work with energetic clients on creative projects as Create:Liberate.
Rory is always quick to point out the passion and influence from his land of birth, Africa. In 2001 he founded Swikiri, which quickly became recognised amongst the online design community for being the leading platform for promoting African Creativity.
When not chained to his desk, Rory can be found playing hockey, listening to music, watching documentaries or taking advantage of all London has to offer - at music gigs, art galleries and film theatres. And quite possibly, having laugh with friends.
State of Emergence
Rory formed the company State of Emergence in 2003 alongside another creative compatriot, Andrew Mackay, which has been successfully operating until 2008.
State of Emergence worked with many talented and inspiring people in the form of clients, agencies, colleagues and collaborators. It was the relationships with these people that allowed our work to flourish and be recognised through clients, awards and in the press.
Clients and Brands worked on include: JWT, Knorr, American Express, BP, BT, Unilever, Contra, Nokia, AKQA, Sony Playstation, Orange, Nike, Unit9, State Design, Virgin Interactive, Nescafe, Sunday Times, Siemens, Eurostar, Prudential, American Airlines, Colgate, Lego, Eidos, RBS, Ogilvy
Recently the partners at State of Emergence decided to pursue new challenges which allowed for the birth of Create:Liberate.
